NEET PG 2025 Candidates’ Data Allegedly Leaked: NBE Responds to Privacy Breach Concerns
A fresh controversy has erupted around the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2025, as multiple reports suggest that student data from the examination may have been leaked and is being sold online. Amid the ongoing confusion and legal proceedings over the exam’s irregularities, several candidates have alleged that they are receiving calls and messages from private admission counsellors, offering MD/MS seats for money.
Students Report Receiving Unsolicited Calls
Candidates have taken to platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Telegram, and Reddit to express concern over their personal information being misused. Many say they are being contacted by private agencies who seem to have access to confidential candidate data — including their names, phone numbers, email IDs, and NEET PG scores.
One student told EduGazette.in on the condition of anonymity,
“I have received several calls from NEET PG counsellors in the past few days. How did they get my phone number? Many websites are openly selling NEET PG 2025 student data. This is a complete breach of privacy, and strict action must be taken.”
Another student shared on Reddit that they found someone on Telegram selling NEET PG 2025 data for ₹15,000, containing highly accurate details like name, father’s name, email, phone number, and even scores.
“I verified it by sharing my own rank — and the seller had all my information right,” the student revealed.
Data Reportedly Being Sold Online for ₹3,000–₹8,500
A web search conducted by EduGazette.in revealed multiple online listings advertising “NEET PG 2025 Student Database”, priced between ₹3,000 and ₹8,500. Some even offer sample data downloads.
One such file reportedly contained the details of 201 students, including their:
- Names
- Phone numbers
- PG roll numbers
- City and state
- Father’s name
- Email addresses
- Scores and ranks
When reporters from EduGazette.in contacted a few numbers from the sample, those students confirmed that they had indeed appeared for NEET PG 2025 — but were unaware that their data had been leaked.
NBE Officials Deny Leak from Their End
In response to the growing concern, a senior official from the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) clarified that their role is limited to conducting the exam and declaring results.
The official explained that NBEMS shares the result data — including candidate details — with the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) for All India Quota counselling, and with state authorities for state quota counselling.
“NBEMS follows strict data protection protocols. The result data is shared in password-protected pen drives, with passwords sent separately in sealed envelopes. The leak may have occurred at any level beyond NBEMS,” the official said.
Experts Raise Questions on Data Security
The alleged leak raises serious questions about digital privacy and the handling of sensitive student data in national examinations. Education activists and cybersecurity experts have called for a comprehensive investigation to identify how and where the breach occurred.
If confirmed, this would mark one of the most significant data privacy lapses in India’s education sector, potentially affecting thousands of postgraduate medical aspirants.
What Happens Next
As of now, no official investigation or action has been publicly announced by the NBEMS or MCC. However, candidates are urged to:
- Avoid responding to suspicious calls or messages offering paid seats.
- Report such incidents to the National Cyber Crime Portal (cybercrime.gov.in).
- Follow only official updates via nbe.edu.in and mcc.nic.in.
Bottom Line
While the authenticity of the alleged data leak is yet to be formally confirmed, the situation highlights a growing need for data security and transparency in national-level examinations. With NEET PG already under scrutiny for multiple delays and legal challenges, this latest development adds to the mounting pressure on authorities to ensure fairness and integrity in the admission process.
